tuXedoo is an Austrian band . Their music can be assigned to the genre Metalcore with Thrash Metal influences.

history

In 2005 the then three-piece band was founded in Mattighofen , Upper Austria . The name of the band came about by chance and has no particular background. In September 2015 the band name was changed from tuXedo with an "o" to Tuxedoo with a double "o".

After the band released their first EP Schizophrenia in 2008, a new drummer joined the band. After the second EP entitled Fight , which was released in 2010, the band grew by a second guitarist.

In 2012 the band played as support for Ektomorf on their Black Flag Tour 2012. In 2014, the band was voted 2nd in a voting for the most popular Austrian band.

In 2015 Tuxedoo won the Newcomer Contest of the Rockavaria Festival, and thereby won an appearance at the festival itself. Since 2015, the Austrians have been under contract with Global Concerts, which have taken over the management and booking. On April 1, 16 their second album Tales from the Rock Mass was released via Alpencore Records / Sony Music.

In total, they have played more than 200 concerts in Austria, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, including in 2016 at some major European rock open airs such as Rockavaria in Munich, Rock in Vienna on the Danube Island, the Swiss Sonisphere , at the Wacken Open Air and its winter offshoot Full Metal Mountain.

Today Tuxedoo has six members and, according to its own statement, makes it its task to carry the "Original Austrian Alpencore" out into the world and to live it. This also includes wearing traditional outfits and lederhosen when performing .

Uli has been the new drummer since April 2019 after Dü announced his departure in October 2018.

style

In keeping with their origins, Tuxedoo says they play “Alpencore”. The lyrics are written by Mök, Hons, Kopal and Kiwi and were in English until 2016. The text of the single Perchtenzeit , published in November of that year, is in Austrian dialect .

In its beginnings, the then three-piece band orientated itself stylistically towards alternative metal / crossover . From 2008 Tuxedoo changed their style more and more towards metal .

The “meat mountain” has established itself as a special feature of the band's appearances: the audience throws themselves at each other like celebrating a goal and forms a heap. At the Nova Rock Festival, a mountain over two meters high formed from which people fell down again at the side. Despite the low level of awareness of the band, this was even picked up by the local press.
