Insidious Disease is a Norwegian death metal - Supergroup from Oslo , which both former as known also active members of the band Norwegian Metal -Bands there and in 2004 under the name Insidious was founded.

Band history

The band was founded in late 2004 under the name Insidious by guitarists Sven Atle “Silenoz” Kopperud ( Dimmu Borgir ) and Jon Øyvind “Jardar” Andersen (ex- Old Man's Child ), drummer Tony Laureano ( Angelcorpse , Nile ). In September 2005 bassist Shane Embury ( Napalm Death , Brujeria , Lock Up ) joined the band. Together with the producer Terje "Cyrus" Andersen , who otherwise worked for Susperia , the group went to the studio in early 2009. to record their debut album Shadowcast . The material was then mixed by Russ Russell in May . Necrophagia front man Frank “Killjoy” Pucci also co-wrote the album and contributed vocal passages for the song Rituals of Bloodshed . The group had their first appearance on July 30th at the Magnet Club in Berlin together with Caliban , before the band played at the Wacken Open Air without a record deal . Then Century Media became aware of the band and signed them. The label released the album at the beginning of July 2010, with Marc “Groo” Grewe (ex- Morgoth ) singing on the album. Grewe had recorded his vocal tracks in the sauna of the studio of Susperia singer Athera, except for a chorus that was recorded in a friend's bedroom in Berlin. During other concerts in Germany, Tony Laureano had to be temporarily replaced by Dariusz Brzozowski, as Laureano was on the road with All That Remains .

In April 2020 the band was signed by the German record label Nuclear Blast .

style

According to Anzo Sadoni from Metal Hammer, the band play classic Death Metal on Shadowcast , with Grewe's vocals almost reminiscent of Morgoth times. In addition, Sadoni drew a vocal comparison with John Tardy from Obituary . Bastian Voigtländer from metal.de also described the music on the album as old-school death metal. The band forego the use of synthesizers and deliver "[g] sadhless shredder volleys , grueling drums with double bass lighting , pounding mid-tempo and wild speed attacks , short solo freaks and a convincing Marc Grewe who has not lost a millimeter and still has a martial vocal organ" . According to Alexander Eitner from metalnews.de , the album features "Death Metal, which fortunately neither sounds old-fashioned nor has been overly trimmed to be modern, but just sounds brutal, quite varied and also not completely free of melodies".
