Eyes Set to Kill is an American metalcore band from Phoenix ( Arizona ). The band name is derived from a line of a poem by Alexia Rodriguez that she wrote in high school.
history
The band was founded in 2003 by the sisters Alexia (electric guitar, keyboard) and Anissa Rodriguez (electric bass) together with singer Lindsey Vogt. In 2004 the band signed a contract with Breaksilence Recordings / Suburban Noize Records and released three albums: Reach (2008), The World Outside (2009) and Broken Frames (2010). In the summer of 2007, Lindsey Vogt left the band and began her solo project The Taro Sound , but then founded the band The Attraction . After Vogt left, Alexia Rodriguez took over the vocals. The line-up changed frequently in the following years.
On October 12, 2010 Alexia Rodriguez released a solo album entitled Underground Sounds under the pseudonym Lexia . In addition to newly written songs, the album also contains several newly played songs by Eyes Set to Kill, as well as a cover by the British rock band Radiohead : Climbing up the Walls .
The album White Lotus was released on August 9, 2011 and was the first album that was released on the band's own label Forsee Records. The CD contains two acoustic covers: Doll Parts by Hole and Polly by Nirvana .
style
The band's music consists of calm, slow passages as well as aggressive, fast ones. Further opposites are gentle, clearly sung female vocals and the guttural , aggressive singing of a male voice. Influences from bands like Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold are clearly audible. Eyes Set to Kill is usually assigned to post-hardcore , but due to the interplay between hard and calm passages, it is often also classified as screamo or emocore . Sometimes the music is also assigned to alternative metal .
