Death by Stereo is a Hardcore - band from Orange County , California that was founded in the 1996th

The style of the band has not only hardcore but also metal borrowings. The long titles of their songs are striking. In terms of content, the texts deal with mostly critical political topics, but packed in a lot of irony .

Surname

The name Death by Stereo is the vampire - film Lost Boys removed. There is a crucial scene in which one of the vampires is shot with an arrow that pegs him to a stereo system. After a huge shower of sparks, his demise is commented on by Sagittarius with "death by stereo".

biography

Death by Stereo was founded in 1996. All five founding members had known each other for a long time, as their previous bands had toured together several times. They played their first concert on March 5, 1998, and towards the end of the year they released their first official EP, Fooled by Your Smile . The band signed a recording deal with Indecision Records, where they released their debut If Looks Could Kill, I'd Watch You Die in 1999 and toured for the rest of the year.

In 2000, Death by Stereo switched to Epitaph Records , where the second long player Day of the Dead was released the following year . The band toured North America for most of the year with groups such as boysetsfire , Rise Against and AFI . In 2002 the quintet took part in the Warped Tour , but there were conflicts with some crew members, which is why the band had to cancel some dates. Death by Stereo processed the experiences later in the track "I Wouldn't Piss in Your Ear If Your Brain Was on Fire" from their 2003 album Into the Valley of Death .

When a person died at a concert on September 28, 2003 due to a mistake in the stage set-up and another five were injured, Death by Stereo canceled their other tour dates for the time being and played a benefit concert for the victims in Anaheim a month later . The recording was included as a free supplement to the “Law of Inertia” magazine and was also released in March 2007 as the only live album to date under the name Death Alive . In the meantime, the band toured extensively and released their fourth studio album Death for Life in June 2005 .

The successor Death Is My Only Frien was released in June 2009 in the USA via Serjical Strike, the record label of Serj Tankian ( System of a Down ). In Europe the album will be available from October 2009 via I Scream Records . In addition, a DVD and a split EP with Love Equals Death have been announced for a long time . In February 2012 the band signed with the indie label Viking Funeral Records for their sixth studio album, Black Sheep of the American Dream .
