The band was founded in 2000 by guitarist Barney Ribeiro. In a first band line-up, including with Brogan Costa as a singer, Nervecell entered 2001 in Abu Dhabi in a "Battle of the Bands" competition. Here you received the award for the best performance, Ribeiro was awarded as the best guitarist.

After Costa and other band members left the band, Rajeh James Khazaal (vocals, bass) and Rami H. Mustafa (lead guitar) joined the band in 2003; In 2005 Louis Rando (drums) completed Nervecell. The end of 2003 the band recorded a demo - tape on. Immediately afterwards they produced their debut EP Human Chaos (2004). The album also found recognition outside the United Arab Emirates and was distributed in Mexico , among others .

In 2005 Nervecell took part in the Desert Rock Festival in Dubai for the first time as a local band , after which the band toured Australia. In addition, Nervecell was the headliner of the Egypt Metal Festival in Cairo in 2007 .

In 2008 the album Preaching Venom was recorded, produced by the Wiwczarek brothers ( Vader ) and mixed by Alan Douches . The album first appeared in the Arab world and North Africa, later in Australia. Since 2009 Nervecell has been playing regularly at concerts and festivals in Europe (including Wacken Open Air , With Full Force , Rock am Ring , Rock im Park , Metalcamp ). Preaching Venom has also been distributed in Europe via the German label Lifeforce Records since 2009 .

The recordings for the current album Psychogenocide were finished at the end of 2010. It was released on April 29, 2011.

style

Nervecell plays Death Metal with slight influences from Arabic folklore. The texts are mostly socially critical and mainly deal with humanitarian issues and inequalities.
