Broken Teeth is a northern English hardcore band. In order to avoid confusion with an American rock band of the same name, they also operate under the name Broken Teeth HC .

history

The band was formed in 2007 by musicians from Manchester and Leeds . The regular cast consists of singer Dale Graham, guitarist Dave Egan and drummer Adam Kelly. Graham and Kelly were school friends, the other members were known to both of them through going to concerts together. The positions of second guitarist and bassist were frequently filled. The core of the band is based in Manchester, but some members have lived or live across the UK, and the band toured frequently . As a result, the band rarely had time to write new material together, and despite its long history, only has a small oeuvre.

In 2015 Broken Teeth played on the Persistence Tour and the French Hellfest . In 2015, 2017 and 2018 they played at the Outbreak Fest in Leeds , UK , in 2016 at the Belgian Groezrock and in 2018 at the Endless Summer and Summer Breeze , the Czech Brutal Assault and the Belgian Ieperfest .

style

The Metal Hammer describes the style of the album At Peace Amongst Chaos as pieces of medium tempo with numerous Mosh passages and “more than idiosyncratic sound”. The magazine drew parallels with the American metalcore band Merauder . The Ox -Fanzine also drew parallels to Merauder and defined Broken Teeth's music as “angry riff riffs between brute thrash and new school hardcore”. The result is "such a tremendous mix of hardcore and metal that you don't get often today."

The band occasionally tours with thrash metal bands like Testament , but sees themselves as a pure hardcore band. Drummer Adam Kelly stated in an interview that the band's music was partly influenced by the Brazilian band Sepultura . The lyrics of the band deal primarily with the oppression of people in today's society, with personal feelings such as fear and anger and the rejection of conformity.
