Debris Inc. was an American punk and doom metal band from Chicago , Illinois that was founded in 2001 and split in 2008.

history

After the band Trouble broke up, Ron Holzner tried a new beginning with Barry Stern on drums and the singer Kyle Thomas from Exhorder , but that didn't work. In 2001 there was a reunion with the original line-up of Trouble. However, Holzner did not like the new and softer style. In addition, his house burned down and his mother fell ill. A little later he became aware that Dave Chandler had left the band Saint Vitus and wanted to retire. However, Holzner was able to convince him instead to found Debris Inc. with him. A short time later, Karyn Crisis came to the cast as singer and Afzaal Nasiruddeen as guitarist. Together they recorded a cover version of the X song Nausea . Later the Zoetrope drummer Barry Stern joined the cast. In 2002 the group played at the Milwaukee Metalfest and the Wacken Open Air, among others . In 2003 the band played on With Full Force . In May 2004 she went on a tour of North America with Dixie Witch and Orange Goblin . Jimmy Bower of Superjoint Ritual , Down and formerly Corrosion of Conformity was on drums at these gigs . For a performance at the Templars of Doom Festival in Indianapolis in June , Stern was again represented as a drummer. In December the group signed a deal with Rise Above Records . In 2005 the self-titled debut album was released, on which a cover version of the Fear song I Love Living in the City can be heard. She also covered the X-song Nausea again , this time together with the members of Crisis . In September 2005 they went on a European tour with the Italian band Alix . Another tour through Europe followed in April 2006 together with Orange Sunshine . In 2008 the breakup of the band was officially announced.

style

Detlef Dengler from Metal Hammer assigned the band to punk on the album. In an interview with Dengler, Holzner stated that Chandler is a fan of Black Flag . At the beginning they played pure punk, before influences from Doom Metal were added later. Holzner stated that while his favorite band is Black Sabbath , he also listens to traditional heavy metal and even In Extremo . Dengler also reviewed the album in the same issue. In addition to influences from Black Flag, you can also hear a GBH influence on the album . In songs like The Old Man And His Bong there is again “ psychedelic , ultra- creeping , marijuana- laden Doom Metal”. Allmusic's Alex Henderson noted that the album featured Californian style punk . Elements from Doom Metal can also be heard, but punk dominates. The music is therefore more comparable to that of bands like Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Germs than with Saint Vitus, EyeHateGod and Orange Goblin. The group played apolitical punk.
