Tenside is a German metal band from Munich .

history

Tenside was founded in 2004 and the first demo CD Insolence was released in 2005 . In the same year the band won a band contest organized by the radio station Antenne Bayern and in the summer of 2005 played at the Young and Free Festival on the Nuremberg Zeppelin Field in front of over 25,000 spectators. In October 2006, This Is Reality was the first single from the debut album My Personal War, which was released in early 2007, through Unformatted Records . The accompanying video clip was shot in Spain. The band toured in a row through Germany and parts of Europe.

In January 2008 the group was on tour in Europe as the opening act for Ektomorf and Stuck Mojo . At the end of March 2008 the second album Mental Satisfaction was released , which could enter several trend charts, including the DAT 20 charts , MRC 30 charts and the Hellfest charts . Tenside played at some festivals over the summer.

On May 29, 2009, the third album Tear Down Your Fears was released on Hellfest Records . The first single of the same name was released with an accompanying video clip. The record made trend chart entries again. Tenside was back on tour in Europe with their third album and played concerts with Devildriver and Hatebreed . By September 2010 the band had appeared in around 300 live shows in several European countries.

On April 1, 2011, the fourth album Chain Reaction was released on Recent Records . The single Armed and Dangerous including a video clip was released in February . The second single Closer to the Edge was also released with a video clip in June 2011. In May 2011 Tenside were on a European tour and gave concerts in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Poland. Violet World , the third single from the album, includes a guest appearance by Christoph von Freydorf, the Emil Bulls singer .

In December 2011 Tenside were on tour through Germany again, this time together with the British band Skindred . During the joint tour, the video clip for Closer to the Edge was able to position itself in the charts of the TV station I Music 1 at number 1.

At the beginning of 2012 the founding members Tobi Leitner (guitar) and Louis Weber (drums) decided to leave the band. The two were replaced by Michael Klingenberg ( Senses May Wither ) and the former Silent Decay drummer Florian Schönweitz. With this line-up, Tenside played a number of summer festivals, including With Full Force and the Devilside Festival . Tenside then supported Soulfly's Germany club shows . In the fall the band played a tour in Germany, Holland and Belgium with Dead by April . In February 2013 Tenside were in Russia for two concerts (Moscow and St. Petersburg).

In July 2013 the album NOVA, produced, mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen in his Antfarm Studios in Aarhus , Denmark , was released . For the production of the vocal recordings, Christoph von Freydorf (Emil Bulls) was also brought in.

In 2014 the band was again a support act on Soulfly's Germany tour. Another tour of Germany with Sacred Reich followed. Tenside then played at the Summer Breeze and Wacken Open Air festivals, among others . From September 2014 the band played the European tour of the Wacken Roadshow . In April 2014 the band traveled to China for seven shows . In March 2015 Tenside was on a co-headlining tour with Dreamshade across Europe. In April, appearances as a special guest of the Emil Bulls followed.

The sixth long player entitled Convergence was released in January 2017 . This was followed by a Europe-wide headlining tour as well as various festival appearances (e.g. With Full Force ).

In January 2018, drummer Florian Schmid announced his personal career end and thus also the exit from the band.

In 2019 TENSIDE will be on tour again and will play concerts in Germany with the US metallers from TRIVIUM , as well as with BAD WOLVES and a club tour with ANY GIVEN DAY . In October 2019 TENSIDE can be seen on tour through Europe and England together with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and play concerts in Great Britain, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland as well as Poland and Switzerland. The highlight of the tour was the sold out London Show at the legendary Brixton Academy , where the music video for the song "As Above So Below" was made.

In 2020 TENSIDE announce their seventh album called "Glamor & Gloom" for release on March 20th, 2020. On March 27th, 2020 the latest album "Glamor & Gloom" will enter the official German Top 100 Album Charts at # 45, making it the highest official chart entry in the band's history. The new album is also well represented in various independent and digital charts in the rock and metal genre abroad. The announced album release tour through Europe had to be postponed to autumn 2020 for the time being due to the outbreak of the corona pandemic.

style

Tenside oriented themselves towards Nu Metal , especially on their first albums , since Mental Satisfaction (2008) there have been more elements of Groove and Modern Metal , occasionally the band is assigned to Metalcore .
