Negator is a German metal band from Hamburg .

history

The band was formed in February 2003. In February 2004 Negator released the debut album Old Black on Remedy Records , which was followed about a year and a half later in November 2005 by "The Iron Verses". In May 2010 the third album Panzer Metal was released . It was praised for its "penetrating power", but was less emotional than its predecessor. Three years later, in 2013, the band released Gates to the Pantheon .

style

Negator's music is inspired by traditional black metal, but sounds more organic than cold. The extremely high tempo of the pieces is characteristic. The band assigns itself to Black Metal, but is also assigned to Dark Metal . Their style has been compared primarily with that of former Norwegian and Swedish black metal bands.

Influences from Death Metal can be found on Gates to the Pantheon . So the band processed in the song Epiclesis "catchy riffs [...] that of equally well behemoth could be" in Serpents Court fast "passages that based guitar run to the songwriting of Dark Funeral with a pinch of merciless hardness of Endstille make you think […] As well as songs that should make Belphegor fans racing ”, and the Belphegor cover Necrodaemon Terrorsathan as a bonus track of the limited edition hardly deviates from Negator's own material. Nevertheless, according to Moritz Grütz from Metal1.info , the album creates “a very unique, but above all dense atmosphere”. Dr. O. von Musikreviews.de wrote that Gates to the Pantheon was Swedish-influenced, "jet-black Black Metal without compromise". It was criticized that the smooth production created little atmosphere. In addition, the "mix of furious, malicious Black Metal and a little Death Metal, which shines through again and again through a few tricky riffs, [...] is not at all new and certainly not innovative".
