Stepfather Fred is a heavy alternative rock band from southern Germany .

history

The school friends Armin Wiedemann (bass), Simon Schweiger (guitar), Daniel Rolf (guitar) and Christopher Wilhelm (drums) met for jam sessions with various musicians since 2005. In 2007 a singer was found in Sebastian Schuster (vocals) who finally completed the band. In 2007 the band was officially founded under the name Stepfather Fred. The group first played local concerts and released their first EP under the name "Stepfather Fred". Shortly afterwards Daniel Rolf left the band. In 2008 Stepfather Fred released their first CD "Stepfather Fred II".

In 2010 Stepfather Fred won a slot at the Southside Festival in a band contest for the Schwäbische Zeitung . Inspired by this success, the band decided to take a more professional path. Shortly afterwards, they are included in the ByOn, the Bavarian rock / pop funding project, which enables them to go on tour with Emil Bulls , Pro Pain , Biohazard , Hämatom and others in the opening act . At events of the “ByOn” the band also got to know their future producer Ralph Quick ( H-Blockx , Die Happy , Subway to Sally ). In 2011, Stepfather Fred released the album "Raise Our Flag", which now features a total of 10 tracks, including the first video single "Bavarian Balls". The album was recorded in the studio by guitarist Simon Schweiger. After Armin Wiedemann left, Andreas Schuster is the new bass player for Stepfather Fred for a short time. After half a year, Matthias Gaßner finally brings constancy back to the rhythm section. In 2013 work begins on a new album, which will be released in 2014 under the name "Hello Larry Brown?", On which the video single "Caroline" can also be found. This is the band's first album, which was produced and recorded entirely in collaboration with Ralph Quick at Rock City Studios in Solingen. In 2015 the band released an unplugged album "Unplugged and Handmade" (recorded in Simon Schweiger's studio) and is the main supporter of the entire JBO tour. In 2016 drummer Christopher Willhelm leaves the band and Julius Dollinger becomes the new drummer. With him the band will go on a European tour in the spring of 2016 in the opening act for “The Skull” (ex- Trouble / ex- Pentagram ). In addition, the band released their album "Dummies, Dolls & Masters" on the label "El Puerto Records", which received consistently good reviews from the press. Stepfather Fred was able to expand her live presence in 2016 to a total of 56 concerts in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Hungary, Poland and the Netherlands. Among other things, the band performs at the Summer Breeze and With Full Force festivals .

In the summer of 2018, the band made it into the headlines of some newspapers in Switzerland after they simply drove through all the security gates to the St. Gallen Open Air with a stage built on a trailer and performed two songs in the middle of the festival site . The action was controversial and attracted some attention in Switzerland.

In April 2019 Stepfather Fred was on tour in Russia for two weeks.
