Volksmetal is a band from Konstanz on Lake Constance, founded in 2010 by the musician and singer Marco Gregor. Folk metal mix folk music melodies with heavy metal .
history
Long-time friends Marco Gregor and Patrick Bayernhammer (guitar) write the first songs. The first appearance took place in April 2011 as part of the Konstanzer Kulturladen band competition Open See. The Friedrichshafen musicians Martin Ibele (bass), Manuel Sutter (tuba) and Matthias Beiter (quetsche) as well as the Konstanz drummer Christian Häberlein were engaged for this performance .
In the summer of 2011, the band played five gigs on one day at the Summer Breeze Festival in Dinkelsbühl. The record company AFM Records / Premium Records became aware of the band and in the same year the band signed their record deal. From December 2011 to February 2012 the studio work with producer Achim Lindermeir ( Itchy Poopzkid , Die Happy ) took place in the House of Music Studios in Winterbach. From this point on, Martin Bottlinger took over the tuba. The pinch and accordion were recorded by Christian Gratwohl. The debut CD “Volksmetal” was released on August 3, 2012 on the Premium Records label and is distributed by Soulfood Music. The album was presented for the first time at Wacken Open Air 2012.
The festival season began for the band at the Queens of Metal Open Air in Steinbach-Langenbach in July 2012. On accordion Matthias Moebius played. The highlight of 2012 is a four-day commitment at Wacken Open Air from August 1st to 4th, 2012. The first appearance in Switzerland will take place as part of the Rocktoberberfest in Sumiswald near Bern. The band ended the year in Konstanz on December 21, 2012 and the day after at the Heavy Xmas Festival in Grafenhausen in the opening act of the Swiss band Samael .
Patrick Bayernhammer changes to saxophone in 2013, Roberto "G.Mareike" Schmid takes over the guitar, Paul Ergang the bass, Stefan Krebs the tuba, Michael Schäuble now plays the melodic and Andi Grundler is another part of the live shows as "Da Deifel" from Volksmetal.
Further appearances follow, among others, in the opening act of JBO and at the Rockharz Open Air in Ballenstedt.
The band ends the festival season at the Summer Breeze Open Air Festival.
