Kill Devil Hill is an American metal band. The band was founded in 2009 and is under contract with SPV . The band's discography includes two studio albums.

history

The guitarist Mark Zavon, who previously played in bands like WASP or WWIII , recorded a demo in 2009 with singer Jason "Dewey" Bragg (ex- Pissing Razors ). Zavon played the demo that Appice loved for ex- Black Sabbath - and Dio - drummer Vinny Appice . The musicians continued to work on the songs together with the former Dio bassist Jimmy Bain . Bain could not join as a permanent member due to other obligations. For this, the former Pantera and Down bassist Rex Brown , who has been friends with Appice for a long time, got on board. The band name is derived from the town of Kill Devil Hills in North Carolina , where the Wright brothers carried out the world's first controlled powered flights in the early 20th century.

On April 29, 2011, the band played their first concert in Hollywood . This was followed by a tour lasting several months, during which the band played a few cover versions in addition to their own songs . In September 2011 Kill Devil Hill signed a contract with the German record label SPV. Under the direction of producer Warren Riker, the band recorded their self-titled debut album, which was originally due to be released in March 2012. Kill Devil Hill was finally released on May 25, 2012. In May 2012, Kill Devil Hill went on an American tour with Adrenaline Mob , during which both bands played their own songs before the musicians of both bands completed a joint jam session . A European tour with the Norwegian hard rock band Audrey Horne was planned for September 2012, but had to be canceled.

The second album, Revolution Rise , produced by Jeff Pilson , was released in October 2013. In March 2014, Vinny Appice announced that it was leaving. He was succeeded by Johnny Kelly ( Danzig , Type O Negative ).

Music genre

Drummer Vinny Appice described the music of Kill Devil Hill as a mixture of Black Sabbath , Alice in Chains and a bit of Led Zeppelin .
