Daniël van der Stoep (born September 12, 1980 in Delft ) is a Dutch politician (formerly CDA , PVV , Article 50).

Life

Van der Stoep studied international relations at the University of Leiden . Until 2006 he was a member of the Christen-Democratisch Appèl . After that he was close to the Partij voor de Vrijheid (PVV). On behalf of this party he was a member of the European Parliament from July 14, 2009 to August 17, 2011 and again since December 14, 2011 . In the summer of 2010 he was investigated by the police for driving under the influence of psychoactive substances after a road traffic accident . He then resigned from his seat in the European Parliament. Geert Wilders had Auke Zijlstra move up as his successor.

After the enlargement of the European Parliament after the Treaty of Lisbon , he was sent back to parliament by the PVV in December without joining their delegation. In 2012, van der Stoep founded the Article 50 party , the name of which refers to Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty. On June 11, 2013 van der Stoep joined the European party Movement for a Europe of Freedom and Democracy . In the 2014 European elections , Article 50 received 0.51% of the vote and failed to win a mandate. After internal quarrels, van der Stoep left the party - in January 2015 the members of Article 50 decided to join the PVV spin-off Partij voor Nederland .

In December 2015, van der Stoep was sentenced to five months' imprisonment after seducing underage girls into sexual relationships with money and drugs.
