Partij voor Nederland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Partij voor Nederland ( PvN ; German  Party for the Netherlands ) is a Dutch party.

history

The party was founded in 2006 by Hilbrand Nawijn , who had been integration minister for Lijst Pim Fortuyn (LPF) in the Balkenende I cabinet , but left his party in 2005 and then stayed in the Dutch lower house as a non-attached party. The former LPF parliamentary group leader Gerard van As briefly joined the new party, but announced in September 2006 that he had left the party again. Nawijn did not want to give van As a top spot on the list, while van As stated in connection with his departure that he had previously informed Nawijn that he had never wanted a place on the list. Furthermore, van As also had difficulties with the cooperation of the PvN with the Vlaams Belang , a Flemish party, which is often referred to as xenophobic .

One goal of the PvN was to merge with other small parties, which followed on a federal level with ONS Nederland , Nederland Transparant and Nederland Mobiel . The chairman of ONS Nederland, Berthoo Lammers, got second place on the list. In the parliamentary elections of 2006 the party was unsuccessful, with 5,010 votes (0.1%), the entry into the Dutch lower house was clearly missed. Since the parliamentary elections hardly anything has been heard from the PvN, in the provincial elections of 2007 it no longer stood. The website received no more updates and was finally taken offline in 2008.

Party platform

The PvN was clearly recognizable as the heir to the LPF, especially in terms of integration policy. In addition to increased pressure to integrate, the party also spoke out in favor of abolishing separate Islamic lessons and stopping the construction of further mosques. While the party advocated the consistent deportation of criminal foreigners, it was in turn for the equality of allochtons and autochthons .

According to the will of the PvN, the number of civil servants was to be reduced and the bureaucracy pushed back. The party advocated further tax cuts and free public transport. The PvN was one of the parties in favor of compulsory social service (since 1997 military service has been suspended for peacetime in the Netherlands, which means that the same applies to alternative community service).

In criminal matters, the PvN opposed early release and custody leave in preventive detention . In terms of health policy, the party advocated the abolition of separate nursing homes and their integration into old people's homes.
