Nederland Transparant

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nederland Transparant (Netherlands Transparent) is a Dutch party. The Europa Transparant party was its sister party at European level.

history

A first attempt to found Nederland Tranparant was not accepted by Europa Transparant founder Paul van Buitenen in 2004 because the establishment of an offshoot did not come from Europa Tranaparant and he feared a misleading that voters might suspect that Nederland Transparant had something with Europa Transparant to do. Since the Dutch electoral committee rejected van Buitenen's objection, the latter turned to the State Council and was able to achieve its goal of preventing the new party from calling itself Nederland Transparant .

However, this did not mean the end of the efforts to found a national sister party; on the contrary, Europa Transparant now took over the reins and quickly built Nederland Transparant itself. Gerrit de Wit, co-founder of Europa Transparant, became the first party chairman. Van Buitenen was also initially on the party executive, but resigned from his post in Nederland Transparant on April 9, 2005 in order to forestall any further confusion of functions.

Ten local branches of Nederland Transparant took part in the local elections of March 2006, three of which were able to win seats. By far the most successful was Bladel Transparant from the municipality of Bladel , where 15.3% were achieved, and Bladel Transparant caused a sensation a few months later when the then parliamentary group chairman handed over his office to a 19-year-old successor.

In the parliamentary elections of 2006 , the party ran with de Wit and the party's treasurer Alexander Brom as the top candidate in all constituencies, but won only 2,318 votes (0.0%) and could not move into the Dutch lower house . Nederland Transparant did not take part in the 2007 provincial elections .

Party platform

As with Europa Transparant , the issue of transparency is the top priority in politics, true to the party name. The party rejects a categorization in left or right for itself. In the parliamentary election program, the party spoke out in favor of directly elected mayors, and the same should apply to the prime minister. Referendums were approved. Furthermore, the party advocated limiting the term of office of MPs who also have a leading role outside of politics. The official duty of confidentiality should be changed to an obligation to provide information if the party so wishes.
