Europe Transparant

Europa Transparant was a political party in the Netherlands . It was founded on April 8, 2004 by Paul van Buitenen and immediately won two seats in the European Parliament in the European elections in the same year , after an election campaign that cost only € 4,000. Van Buitenen and the number 2 of the list, Els de Groen , who was known as Aufdeckerin of corruption scandals in Eastern Europe, which were Group The Greens / European Free Alliance in as independent members.

The party claimed to be apolitical. She saw herself as a fighter for transparent government work on a European level, against corruption and favoring friends. In 2005 Paul van Buitenen founded the Platform for Transparency (PfT) together with Hans-Peter Martin and Ashley Mote . However, British MP Ashley Mote was serving a month-long prison sentence in the UK in 2007 for social fraud .

On December 31, 2007, Europa Transparant merged with the Nederland Transparant party , which pursued the same goals at national level. In the European Parliament there was a disagreement between Van Buitenen, who wanted to limit the party activities exclusively to the fight against corruption, and De Groen, who also wanted to address other issues, such as the rights of the Sinti and Roma in Bulgaria .

For the 2009 European elections Europe Transparent occurred not more.
