Elly de Groen-Kouwenhoven (born December 23, 1949 in The Hague ) is a Dutch politician of the Europe Transparant party .

Life

Elly de Groen-Kouwenhoven studied French and worked from 1975 to 1979 as a teacher at a secondary school. Afterwards she worked as a writer, essayist and publicist. She was also a reviewer for youth literature and was employed as an editor for the children's page for the daily Algemeen Dagblad . She is the author of literary and non-fiction books for adults. One of her focuses is Eastern Europe. In addition to her work, she has been a free consultant at the Dutch foundation “Roma Emancipatie” in Oss since 2002 .

She belongs to the Europa Transparant party. In addition to the founder of the party Paul van Buitenen , she is the second member of the party, which has been a member of the European Parliament since 2004 . Both politicians belong as independent members of the group The Greens / European Free Alliance . In Parliament, de Groen-Kouwenhoven sits on the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and is a member of the delegation for relations with the countries of south-east Europe .
