Spurr is an impact crater on the front of the moon in the plain of Palus Putredinis , southeast of the large crater Archimedes .

It is a so-called ghost crater , i. i.e., it is very flat and largely flooded, except for the edge in the south and east.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1973 after the American geologist Josiah Edward Spurr .
