Pissing Razors was an American groove metal band from El Paso , Texas , that was formed in 1994 and disbanded in 2004.

history

The band was formed in 1994 by guitarist Matt Lynch, bassist Rick Valles, singer Joe Rodriguez and drummer Eddy Garcia. Together they developed the first songs and some appearances followed. The debut album Psycho Punko Metal Groove was released in 1996, self-financed, with Garcia working as a producer. After the publication, further appearances followed. On a tour together with Pro-Pain and Stuck Mojo , an employee of Noise Records became aware of the band and finally signed them.

After the self-titled album was released in 1998, the album Cast Down the Plague was recorded in Germany under the direction of Andy Sneap . Before touring with Skinlab , guitarist Lynch left the band and was replaced by Cesar Soto. As part of the promotional activity for the album, the band played u. a. also in Innsbruck - together with Pro-Pain , Fury of Five and Gurd . The album Fields of Disbelief followed in 2000. Like the debut album, the album was produced by the drummer Garcia, supported by Sterling Winfield , who had already produced albums for Pantera . The album should be the last on Noise Records. This was followed by a tour. Since the singer Joe Rodriguez had previously left the band to devote himself more to his family, Todd Brashear took the position of singer for the tour.

After the tour, the band went in search of a suitable singer and a new label, which meant that planned performances in Europe were canceled. Singer Jason "Dewey" Bragg eventually joined the band and the group reached a deal with Spitfire Records . In December 2001 the album Where We Come From was released on this label . After the recordings for the live album Live In the Devil's Triangle , Bragg and Soto left the band. The album was released in early 2003. Singer Andre Acosta and guitarist Matt Difabio joined the band as replacements. The new album Evolution was recorded and mixed in Garcia's own studio. After the album was released in 2003, the band broke up the following year.

style

The band plays music that is described as a mix of Pantera and Fear Factory .
