The Sliema Point Battery , also known as Fort Sliema , is a fortification in Malta . It was built from 1872 during the British rule over the islands. It is located in Sliema on a peninsula that separates Marsamxett Harbor from Spinola Bay .

Colonel William Jervois suggested in his memorandum of June 23, 1866 that a battery be built at this point. The system was one of four batteries to be created to defend the entrances to the Grand Harbor . Each of these batteries should be equipped with two RML 23 ton guns. The architecture of the battery was influenced by Jervois and is characterized by the use of Gothic style elements. Construction of the facility began in 1872. At this time the planned armament was changed from the originally planned RML 23 ton gun to two RML 11 inch 25- ton guns and RML 10 inch 18 ton guns . The smaller cannons should be placed behind iron protective shields. However, there was another change in the following year. Now the battery was to receive two RML 12 inch 35 ton guns , as they were also intended for Fort St Rocco . These guns were finally scaffolded in 1878.

Today there is a restaurant called Fortizza in the building .
