Johnny Kelly (born March 9, 1968 ) was the drummer of the American metal band Type O Negative until their breakup . At the same time he plays drums in the rock and metal bands Danzig , Seventh Void , Black Label Society and A Pale Horse Named Death .

Career

Kelly was originally a drummer roadie and bus driver for the band Type O Negative . In 1994 he took over the vacant drummer position and replaced Sal Abruscato . Kelly then toured with Danzig since 2002, he then also played on the 2010 studio album Deth Red Sabaoth . He was also involved in the piece Blood and Flames in the all-star project Roadrunner United .

After the death of Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele in 2010, the remaining members announced in an interview with Rock Hard magazine in November 2010 that the band had ceased to exist with Steele's death. Kelly founded the band Seventh Void together with his Type-O-Negative colleague Kenny Hickey , with whom he toured Europe with Monster Magnet in December 2010 .

Kelly also plays the drums in a Led Zeppelin tribute band called Earl's Court. In February 2011 it was announced that Kelly would replace Will Hunt as drummer for Black Label Society for the remainder of the European tour. He played live with the band for the first time in Paris . In 2014 he joined the band Kill Devil Hill .
