100 Kilo Herz is a German punk band from Leipzig. They call their style "Brass Punk" because of the use of saxophone and trumpet.

Band history

100 Kilo Herz was founded in 2015. The band name is derived from the song 100 Kilos by Muff Potter .

Her first self-titled EP was released in 2017. A year later, the debut album Far Away from Home followed on the label Bakraufarfita Records .

The second album Stadt Land Flucht followed in 2020 . The album reached number 19 in the German album charts. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany , the band had to forego the planned festival appearances , but played two strictly limited open-air concerts. A tour is planned for autumn.

style

From the beginning the idea existed to implement German-speaking punk with brass. For this, the band chose the name "Brass Punk" to differentiate themselves from Ska-Punk , which the group does not consider musically appropriate. The band largely dispenses with danceable off-beat and instead relies on political texts and harder, but more melodic punk rock, especially from the melodycore genre , but also German-speaking bands such as Die Ärzte , Die Toten Hosen , Rantanplan and Broilers . The band's lyrics are anti-fascist and are also directed against sexism . There is also the recurring topic of rural exodus . Because of these themes and the use of horns, the band is often compared to Feine Sahne Fischfilet .
