Fozzy is an American heavy metal band currently under contract with Century Media Records .

The most prominent member of the band is singer Chris Jericho , who is also very successful as a wrestler . In his long career at various wrestling promotions (including WCW , WWE , NJPW , AEW ) he was able to win numerous titles.

history

Band foundation (1999–2000)

Rich Ward founded the band as Fozzy Osbourne , which should be a reference to the singer Ozzy Osbourne , initially as a pure cover band. The musicians he needed for this he had together in a week. In 1999 he met Chris Jericho at a wrestling event and asked him if he would like to sing with Fozzy. The band made their first appearance in Maretta , Georgia . Jericho played a few sessions with the band but didn't want to join permanently because he was very busy with his wrestling career at the time. But when he was sidelined for four months due to an ankle injury, he returned to the band under the pseudonym Moongoose McQueen and went on tour with them. He made fun of this number and always explained that the two were two very different people, but that Chris was a very big Moongoose fan.

Fozzy & Happenstance (2000–2002)

The band shortened the name to Fozzy and invented a funny band history: They went to Japan and signed with a famous record company there to become big rock stars. The company went bankrupt and they were stuck there for 20 years and the demos they were recording were stolen and released by other bands. Shortly afterwards they produced their first album Fozzy , on which they covered bands such as Dio , Krokus , Twisted Sister , Iron Maiden , Mötley Crüe and Judas Priest .

They released their second album Happenstance in 2002. Again it consisted almost entirely of cover versions of well-known metal bands such as Black Sabbath , Scorpions , WASP and Accept .

All That Remains (2003-2006)

After the Happenstance Tour in 2003, the band revealed their "real" history and Chris finally admitted that he was Moongoose too. In January 2005 the third album All That Remains came out, on which only the band's own pieces can be heard. For this album she received support a. a. by Zakk Wylde ( Black Label Society ), Mark Tremonti ( Creed , Alter Bridge ), Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge, Slash ), Marty Friedman ( Megadeth ) and Butch Walker ( Marvelous 3 ). The track Enemy was the theme song of the WWE event No Way Out in 2005 and TNA used it for promotional purposes in 2006 . She also played at the Download Festival in England in 2005 .

Chasing the Grail (2009-2011)

On March 4th, 2009, MetalUnderground.com reported that Fozzy had signed a worldwide record deal with Australian record company Riot! Entertainment have signed to release their fourth album Chasing the Grail . The single Matyr No More became the official theme music for WWE Royal Rumble that year. The album was released in the US on January 26th, in Australia in February and in Europe in March.

On February 19, 2011, Jericho announced in an interview that he had finished the lyrics for a fifth album and only had to write the music for it and the band hoped that it would be ready in February 2012. On May 4, 2012, the band announced on their Facebook page that the recordings for the new album had finally been completed.

On September 9, 2011, Paul Di Leo joined the band for Sean Delson because he wanted his full musical attention for another project.

Sin and Bones (2012)

On January 8, 2012 it was announced that Fozzy had signed a contract with Century Media Records and wanted to release an album and later a live DVD. Shortly thereafter, Jericho tweeted "New Fozzyrock album in August". Despite his return to the WWE on January 2nd, Fozzy finished the recordings for the album. The single Sandpaper was again the theme song of the WWE event Hell in a Cell . The album Sin and Bones was released on August 14th. After the album was released, Jericho left the WWE again to tour the USA, Australia and Europe with Fozzy.

Do You Wanna Start a War (2014)

On April 29, 2014, the band released the new single Lights Go Out . The second single, One Crazed Anarchist , was released on May 26th for fans who pre-ordered the upcoming album. The album was released on July 22, 2014. In September bassist Paul Di Leo was replaced by Jeff Rouse (including Duff McKagan 's Loaded).

Jude (2017)

On October 13, 2017, Fozzy's seventh studio album called Judas was released. The previously released single of the same name was a great success and the band went on a longer tour with the album in 2017 and 2018.
