Alazka (formerly Burning Down Alaska) is a Melodic Hardcore band from Recklinghausen, founded in 2012 .

The Melodic Hardcore band was founded in 2012 in Recklinghausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, by guitarist Marvin Bruckwilder, bassist Julian Englisch and drummer Jonas Baier. At the beginning of 2013, Dario Sanchez, a second guitarist joined the trio; At the end of the year the singer of the band was found in Tobias Rische .

On February 18, 2015, a record deal was signed with Redfield Records , about which the band released their debut EP Values ​​& Virtues about a month later . In the song Phantoms , which can be found on this extended play, Michael McGough from Being as an Ocean is a guest singer. Immediately afterwards, the group went on a smaller European tour with the US metalcore band Kingdom of Giants , which included Italy , the Czech Republic , Poland , Switzerland , Germany and the Netherlands . There followed also appearances with The Ghost Inside and Parkway Drive , as well as appearances at the Impericon Festival in Leipzig , the Mair1 Festival and the With Full Force . The group also played as a replacement for Northlane at Southside . Between November 6th and 28th, 2015, the band was the opener on the entire Never Say Die! Tour , which was also played by Fit for a King , Cruel Hand , Being as an Ocean, Defeater and The Amity Affliction . Between May 25 and 29, 2016, the group completed their first headlining tour through Japan . Before that, the band did a European tour from March 4th to March 26th, 2016, which was accompanied by Acres and Casey . On February 20, 2016 the group was announced for the Summer Breeze .

On February 19, 2016, a new single called Blossom was presented online at Alternative Press . In April, the departure of drummer Jonas Baier was announced. Another singer joined the band in the form of Kassim Auale, formerly active in Breakdowns at Tiffany’s . Auale was a participant in X Factor in 2011 , where he made it to the fourth live show.

Change of name to Alazka

On March 29, 2017, the band officially announced the change of the band name to Alazka .

In addition to the first single Empty Throne , two more singles, Phoenix and Ghost , were from the upcoming album Phoenix which was released on September 1, 2017 on SharpTone Records .

Their Phoenix Headlining Tour through Europe began on September 17th, 2017.

On October 4, 2019, the single Dead End was released. When this single was announced on Facebook, it was also announced that Kassim and Dario were leaving the band due to musical differences.

style

Alazka play a melodic variant of Metalcore , which can also be called Post-Hardcore or even Melodic Hardcore . The music is comparable to groups such as Being as an Ocean , The Plot in You and The Amity Affliction .

Tim Hofmann from the Freie Presse attests that the EP has a “fabulous hit density” and “a moving atmosphere” which is “amazingly close to Sempiternal from Bring Me the Horizon.”
