Johann Ludwig Nordtmann

Johann Ludwig Nordtmann (* 1701 in Lübeck ; † July 10, 1772 there ) was a German merchant and councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Nordtmann was the son of the organist at Lübeck Cathedral Johann Jacob Nordtmann († 1724), who came from the island of Ösel and who , together with Dietrich Buxtehude , had approved the Schnitger organ in the cathedral. Johann Ludwig Nordtmann started a commercial apprenticeship with a Lübeck merchant in 1716. In 1729 he traveled to Stettin , Danzig and Königsberg . Nordtmann was a member of the Lübeck Schonenfahrer merchants' corporation and was elected to the Lübeck Council in 1761 as their senior man .
