The SLAM alternative music magazine ( SLAM ) is a German-speaking, bimonthly rock music magazine , published by the SLAM Media GmbH. The editorial office is located in Vienna .

The magazine was founded in 1994, then still as a fanzine , consisting of a few stapled copies. The motto is: "Comprehensive content instead of superficial reporting". In addition to reviews of new releases , the SLAM offers numerous band interviews , stories , live reviews , music columns and special features as well as presentations of video games, books, films, comics and audio books. A poster and a CD (sometimes also a DVD) are usually included with the booklet .

With a circulation of 30,000 copies, the SLAM is in the midfield of the most important rock music magazines in German-speaking countries. The protagonists of the magazine are musicians and bands from different musical styles. In the past editions, the magazine relied even more on broad coverage, taking into account both alternative bands such as Linkin Park and the Metalcorer Parkway Drive, classic rock bands such as Europe or traditional heavy metal combos such as Portrait or Ram.

The website regularly contains music news, interviews, live reviews (including concert photos) and countless reviews of video games, books, films, comics and audio books.

In addition to the bimonthly edition, the SLAM also acts as the publisher of the Rock Classics special series, which covers complete band stories from AC / DC, Iron Maiden and Guns N 'Roses.

The magazine is headed by editor-in-chief Thomas Sulzbacher and managed by publisher and managing director Bernhard Sengstschmid. Bernhard Kleinbruckner assumes the role of deputy editor-in-chief.
