The Sword is an American heavy metal - tape , in 2003 Austin ( Texas was founded).

history

The band had their first live appearance on March 18, 2004. Shortly afterwards, they released the demo The Sword . Further concerts followed. a. at festivals. In mid-2005, the band was signed by the New York record label Kemado Records , which released their first album Age of Winters in February 2006 . The material for this came almost exclusively from John D. Cronise and was created before The Sword was founded . In 2006 and 2007 tours with u. a. Trivium , Kylesa , In Flames and Nebula through America and Europe . They also played three shows with Lamb of God in Japan . They also released the single Freya from their debut album in September 2007 and later in November of the same year a split EP with the Swedish doom metal band Witchcraft .

With their album Gods of the Earth , released in April 2008 , they entered the US charts for the first time . The Sword became known to a larger audience in Europe when they supported several concerts on Metallica's World Magnetic Tour in late 2008 .

In August 2010, published The Sword as their third album, a science fiction - concept album Warp Riders . In terms of content, the album is about the protagonist Ereth from the planet Acheron. Warp Riders is the first album to feature an external producer, Matt Bayles . With this album they were able to place themselves even better in the US charts than with their previous album. In September 2010, they toured with Metallica and Fear Factory by Australia , New Zealand and Japan .

On October 11, 2010, the band announced on their website that their drummer Trivett Wingo has left the band. Wingo justified this with the fact that he was physically and emotionally unable to continue to be part of The Sword . Thereupon Kevin Fender was hired as live support for their US tour, which was postponed due to Wingo's resignation. Kevin Fender previously played in the hardcore band Employer, Employee .
