Matt Bayles

Matt Bayles (born October 19, 1972 ) is an American record producer and musician .

Life

Bayles attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro , known for its degree programs in arts. His career began in the mid-1990s as a sound engineer or sound engineer for various grunge bands such as Soundgarden ( Down on the Upside ), Pearl Jam ( No Code , Yield ) and The Presidents of the United States of America (debut album of the same name). Since the end of the 1990s he has been working as an independent producer, mainly for groups that can roughly be assigned to the sub-genre areas of Alternative Metal and Doom Metal , but also for artists like Rocky Votolato . Bayles is one of the founding members of Minus the Bear , where he worked as a keyboardist . He left the band in January 2006, as he gave his production activities higher priority.

Bayles owns the Red Room Recording studio in Seattle with Chris Common , but often visits the bands he records with to produce albums on site. On some of the albums he has produced, he is also represented as a guest musician, mostly as a guitarist, keyboardist or pianist.
