A Traitor Like Judas was a metalcore band from Braunschweig .

history

A Traitor Like Judas formed in 2000 after the bands Mingle and In Memory Of split up under the name Parker Frisbee. The group initially consisted of Jan Knackstedt ( bass guitar ), Dennis Thiele ( guitar ), Phillip Resslhuber ( drums ) and Björn Decker ( vocals ). In December of the founding year, the group finally changed its name to A Traitor Like Judas.

Just one year later, the group played their first European tour as the opening act for Narziss without a record deal or having produced a CD. Due to the growing success of the band, they received a contract offer from Erdkampf Records. The EP Poems for a Dead Man was released through this label . The group toured Europe again, this time with Muad'Dib . Back in Braunschweig, the group took on a second guitarist, Christoph Schönbach. The group also switched to Winter Recordings which released the debut album Too Desperate to Breathe In .

The band planned to release a split CD with the group Fall of a Season . This project failed because the label had dissolved. The group signs with Let It Burn Records and released a split CD with the band Under Siege from Hanover. In October the split CD was released under the title Ten Angry Men . The group toured the UK with Burning Skies . Concerts with Heaven Shall Burn , Caliban , Walls of Jericho and As I Lay Dying followed .

Under Goodlife Records, to which the group has since switched, the group worked on the second album Nightmare Inc. Since Goodlife was not a big label, the group decided to sign with Dockyard 1 , which the album was released in late November 2005. In 2006 singer Björn Decker left the group for health reasons and was replaced by Jasper Older. Since the constant touring became more and more time-consuming, there were various line-up changes in the following years. Dennis Thiele left the band shortly after the recordings for the album Endtimes as the last founding member, but still supports them as a replacement at live concerts. The band's third studio album, Endtimes , was released on September 24, 2010 . In 2011 a second split CD was released with Lifetimes , this time with Maintain .

In 2010 and 2011 the group also played over 100 concerts and toured with well-known bands from America such as Sworn Enemy and All Shall Perish . In addition, the group from Braunschweig supported the internationally known Sepultura from Brazil on another European tour at several concerts. In February 2013 the band announced that they had produced a new album with Kristian Kohlmannslehner in the German coal cellar studio and that they had signed a new contract with Redfield Records . Between March 15 and April 1, 2013 the group toured with Nasty , CDC , Warhound and The Green River Burial as support on the “Taste of Anarchy Tour” through Germany , Belgium and the Netherlands .

It was announced that the new album is called Guerilla Heart and is expected to be released on August 23, 2013. On May 20, 2013, the first single What Counts was released as a music video on YouTube.

On January 21, 2018, the band announced that they would split up at the end of the year after a few festival appearances and an extensive club tour. The last concerts took place on December 14th and 15th, 2018 in the B58 in Braunschweig.
