Hopesfall is an American post-hardcore band from Charlotte, founded in 1998 . They broke up in 2008 and got back together in 2016.
history
Hopesfall was founded in 1998 by five teenagers in Charlotte as a Christian hardcore punk band . After a few appearances in the vicinity, the album The Frailty Of Words was recorded in 1999 . In 2001 the EP No Wings To Speak Of was released . After several changes in the line-up, the band signed a recording contract with Trustkill Records and released the album The Satellite Years in 2002 . Breaking up with guitarist Ryan Parrish also dropped the Christian stance. For the next two years the group toured worldwide with bands like Coheed and Cambria , Killswitch Engage , Snapcase , The Juliana Theory and The Ataris . The Satellite Years was released in September 2004 via Roadrunner Records in Germany. The album A Types was released in late 2004 in the United States and early 2005 in Germany. It moved away from post-hardcore and towards alternative rock . It has sold over 80,000 times worldwide. In July 2007, the fourth studio album Magnetic North was released .
In January 2008 the band, which at that time only had one member of the original line-up, announced its breakup via Myspace . In November 2016, the group announced their comeback and signed a deal with Equal Vision Records . The comeback album Arbiter was announced for July 2018.
style
The first album The Frailty Of Words is quite harsh compared to the other albums by Hopesfall and was later not recognized by the band as a full-fledged album.
