The Great Commission is a metalcore band from Redlands , California .
history
The Great Commission was founded in 2007 and consists of the musicians Angela Razo ( vocals , guitar ), Justin Singh (vocals), Billy Sweet (guitar), Solomon Joy ( bass ), Alonso Azofeifa ( drums ) and Victor Cota (vocals, Guitar). Razo and Singh previously played together in the band Every Man for Himself .
The band name comes from chapter 18 of the Gospel of Matthew . On February 17, 2009, the debut album And Every Knee Shall Bow was released , which was produced and published on Facedown Records and Strike First Records . Guest musicians include Brook Reeves from Impending Doom ("The Road Less Traveled") and Matthie Montgomery from For Today ("In A Time Where Hope Was Lost"). The group promoted the album during their US tour together with Demon Hunter , For the Fallen Dreams , Throwdown and Oceano . The group also toured with For Today and Sleeping Giant , as well as a support band for Living Sacrifice and War of Ages .
The group signed a contract with Ain't No Grave Records , which work closely with the German label Century Media . On July 12, 2011, the group's second album was released worldwide under the title Heavy Worship . The album rose 30 July 2011 respectively in the Heatseekers - and the Christian Albums charts of Billboard at No. 19 a.
On December 18, 2011, the group played with We Came as Romans , Blessthefall , Winds of Plague , The Word Alive , Motionless in White and As Blood Runs Black in Anaheim .
On May 8, 2012, Fireworks released an EP with six titles. Five pieces are acoustic versions of songs that have already been released, the sixth song is a cover for Firework by Katy Perry . That same year, the band made a cameo appearance in the music video for had I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift . On June 18, 2013, the group's third studio album, Cast the First Stone, followed .

The label describes the group's musicians on their second album as a mix of A Day to Remember , Emmure , Underoath and As I Lay Dying . The Great Commission translates as "The Mission Order ".
