This Romantic Tragedy was a post-hardcore band from Las Vegas , Nevada , USA .

history

Foundation phase

This Romantic Tragedy was founded in 2004 by the two guitarists David Diaz and Kyle Huender. However, the group had to wait until 2007 before they were ready to play their first concerts and record CDs. The musicians Mark Neuhardt ( drums ), Jay Cammilleri ( vocals ) and Carlin Leavitt ( bass ) joined the two musicians in early 2007. In mid-2007 the group recorded and released their 5-track EP Aetherlie . With Gabe Centeno ( keyboard ), another musician joined This Romantic Tragedy.

In 2008 the second EP followed, which was released under the title Like Drama, Like Karma . The band quickly reached a fanbase in the local music scene. At Extreme Thing 2008 the group had a spot. This Romantic Tragedy starred with Chiodos , Pennywise and Escape the Fate . The first concerts followed in the neighboring states of Utah , Arizona and California, which further increased the band's popularity. This Romantic Tragedy won a slot on the 2009 Taste of Chaos tour. In Las Vegas, the group opened for Bring Me the Horizon , Thursday and Pierce the Veil .

Trust in Fear and Tragic Hero Records

In January 2009 the group withdrew to the studio, where work on the new EP began. At Bluelight Studios in Phoenix , Arizona , the group worked with Cory Spotts, who has already worked on album productions with Blessthefall , Greeley Estates and Job for a Cowboy , on the disc called Trust In Few . On the social platform MySpace , the group posted songs, whereupon the band was able to gain national fame. When Extreme Thing 2009 where the group a spot with Silverstein and Bad Religion had, the EP was officially released. The group also hired the manager Stewart Teggart.

In June 2009 Tragic Hero Records signed This Romantic Tragedy. This was followed by a mini tour with Confide and Of Machines ( Rise Records ). On June 26, 2009, the group released their first music video ( The Worst Part Is Waking Up ), which was produced by Daniel Chesnut. Shortly afterwards, Carlin Leavitt and Gabe Centeno left the group. Centeno wanted to concentrate on his school career. Brian Sims became a session musician so the group could tour with Confide, Agraceful and Memphis May Fire . On September 22nd, 2009 the EP Trust In Fear was re-released as a digital version. This has a new artwork design and features the group's debut video.

Separation with Jay Cammilleri

The group had to cancel their thriller tour after a few concerts, as This Romantic Tragedy kicked their singer Jay Cammilleri out of the band. The group traveled back to Las Vegas to look for a new singer. There is no official statement by the group for the expulsion of Cammileris. Guitarist Kyle Huender wrote on a blog that there were several reasons that led to the decision to kick Cammilleri out of the band.

"Things began to get horribly out of control with him (Cammilleri) and we had no other choice but to let go of our singer for our own safety and for the best for the band."

Reorganization

In January 2010, This Romantic Tragedy announced on Twitter that the group had found three new musicians for the group and would take Joel Piper to Fresno , California to record three demos with the new musicians. In March 2010 the group played a comeback concert in Las Vegas in front of a sold out audience. The new musicians are Sean Neumann ( vocals , Call It Karma ), Chad Dague ( Screamings ) and Evan Evis ( bass guitar ). In June 2010, the group was signed to Outerloop Management , where they are represented by Matthew Stewart (he represents, inter alia, We Came as Romans and The Word Alive ) and Yogi Allgod (inter alia, representative of Darkest Hour and Ivoryline ). This Romantic Tragedy then toured with I Am Ghost and We Are Defiance .

Between September and October of 2010, the group spent at Machine Stop Studios in Weehawken , New Jersey . There the band worked with Will Putney, who works with Four Year Strong , For Today and Suicide Silence , on their debut album. The album contains the three demos and the song You're Just A Trend with Joel Piper ( Confide ) as a guest singer. Reborn rose 28 May 2011 at number 26 of the Billboard - Heatseekers charts and stayed there for one week.

The album was released on May 10, 2011 via Tragic Hero Records and is called Reborn . This was followed by a tour of the USA and Canada with Too Late the Hero and Memphis May Fire . A tour with Attila followed in 2011. At the end of 2011 Huender and Evis left the group. The year 2012 begins with another USA tour with We Are Defiance, The Last of Our Kind and Speaking the Kings , which bears the name "New Year to Fear" and with an appearance at the Extreme Thing 2012 in Las Vegas on 31. March 2012 will end. There This Romantic Tragedy will play on the "vitaminwater stage" together with Alesana , Falling in Reverse , The Black Dahlia Murder , All Shall Perish , The Word Alive and Of Mice & Men .

The Illusion of Choice

In the meantime, Tragic Hero Records no longer has the group under contract. After the band had been quiet for a long time, it became known that the musicians were working on Reborn's successor . The EP is titled The Illusion of Choice and was released on November 19, 2013, initially on a digital level. The group financed the production entirely out of its own pocket. Shortly afterwards the band broke up.
