Bektemir Meliqo'ziyev (* 8. April 1996 in Shoyimbek at Qo'qon ) is an Uzbek boxers in the super middleweight division .

Amateur career

He started boxing in 2006 and became the Uzbek school champion in 2010 and the Uzbek junior champion in 2011 and 2012. At the Heydər Əliyev Cup in Azerbaijan he came second and at the Khayrutdinov Tournament in Kazakhstan, he came first. In 2013 he became Uzbek youth champion and won the Agalarov Cup in Azerbaijan.

2014 was another successful year. He became Uzbek youth champion and elite champion (adults), won the Asian Youth Championships in Bangkok , the Youth World Championships in Sofia and the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing .

In 2015 he won the Strandja Tournament in Bulgaria and the Kulibayev Tournament in Kazakhstan. He also won the gold medal at the Asian Championships in Bangkok in 2015, after defeating Vikas Krishan and Schänibek Älimchanuly , among others .

He was thus qualified for the 2015 World Championships in Doha . In the preliminary round he defeated the Georgian hall Kwatschatadze by knockout in the first round, as well as the French Christian Assomo 2-1 in the round of 16 . In the quarter-finals he beat the reigning European champion Pyotr Chamukow from Russia 2-1 and in the semifinals the reigning European Games winner Michael O'Reilly from Ireland 2-1. In the World Cup final he was then defeated against the Cuban Arlen López .

At the 2016 Olympic Games he reached the final against Daniel Lewis , Vikas Krishan and Misael Rodríguez , where he lost to Arlen López and thus won silver.

At the Asian Championships 2017 in Tashkent he won the gold medal in the light heavyweight division and started at the World Championships 2017 in Hamburg , where he was eliminated in the semifinals against Joe Ward with a bronze medal. He had previously defeated Muslim Gadschimagomedow and Erik Alschanow.

Professional career

He made his professional debut on June 13, 2019. He is under contract with World of Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions .
