Saal Kwachatadze , ( Georgian ზაალ კვაჭატაძემ , English transcription: Zaal Kvachatadze ; born August 17, 1990 ) is a Georgian boxer.

Career

Kwachatadze won the silver medal at the Cadet World Championships in Turkey in August 2006. He defeated Nuttabut Tocmeratoke from Thailand, Park Sung-soo from South Korea and Samuel Dipace from the USA, before losing to Alexander Volkov from Russia in the final. In 2011 he also won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Turkey. After victories against Mohamed Sder from Belgium, Denis Lasarew from Ukraine and William McLaughlin from Ireland, he was eliminated in the semifinals against Welsh Fred Evans .

At the 2011 World Championships in Azerbaijan, he beat Ilyas Abbadi from Algeria in the preliminary round, but then lost to Önder Şipal from Turkey . In the 2011/2012 season he fought for Team Los Angeles Matadors in the World Series of Boxing , but lost his two fights against Hanati Silamu of the Astana Arlans and William McLaughlin of Milano Thunder.

In December 2012 he took part in the U22 European Championships in Russia, defeating Hrajr Matewosijan from Armenia, Simeon Chamow from Bulgaria and Pavel Kostromin from Belarus, before he only had to give up in the final against Artem Selenkowski from Russia. In 2013 and 2014 he became Georgian champion, reached fifth place at the 2013 European Championships in Belarus (victory against Borna Katalinić from Croatia, loss to Araik Marutjan from Germany) and took part in the 2013 World Championships in Kazakhstan, where he won after beating Tharindu Madushanka from Sri Lanka was eliminated again against Fred Evans.

In April 2014 he won the Feliks Stamm Tournament in Poland with victories against Jose Alday from the USA, Pawel Kostromin from Belarus and Damian Kiwior from Poland. At the 2015 European Championships in Samokov , he defeated Tomas Pivorun from Lithuania, Andrej Baković from Slovenia and Arman Hovhikyan from Armenia, before losing to Pyotr Chamukov from Russia in the semi- finals and got out with a bronze medal.

At the 2015 World Championships in Doha , he lost the preliminary round match against Bektemir Meliqoʻziyev from Uzbekistan. In the preliminary round of the 2017 European Championships, he was eliminated by Marian Pita.
