Önder Şipal

Önder Şipal (born May 1, 1987 ) is a Turkish boxer. His brother Onur Şipal is also a successful boxer.

Career

The southpaw won the 2003 European Featherweight Championships in Italy and beat Miklós Varga among others . In 2005 he won bronze light welterweight at the European Junior Championships in Estonia, the Mediterranean Games in Spain and the EU Championships in Italy. He won another third place at the 2006 EU Championships in Hungary. At the European Championships in 2006 in Plovdiv he was defeated in the preliminary round against Ionuț Gheorghe .

At the 2007 World Championships in Chicago he lost in the preliminary round against Boris Georgiew , at the 2008 European Championships in Liverpool in the round of 16 against Marcin Łęgowski . In 2009 he won the welterweight gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Italy and started at the 2009 World Championships in Milan , where he was eliminated in the second preliminary round against Taras Schelestyuk .

In 2010 he won the Welterweight University World Championships in Mongolia, but was defeated again at the 2010 European Championships in Moscow in the round of 16 against Taras Schelestyuk. At the 2011 World Cup in Baku he reached the round of 16, but was eliminated from Vikas Krishan . At the 2013 World Cup in Almaty , he lost to Araik Marutjan .

At the 2015 European Games in Baku , he was eliminated in the round of 16. At the APB / WSB Olympic qualification tournament in Venezuela in July 2016, he defeated Francisco Concepción from Spain (3-0) and Xhek Paskali from Germany (3-0), which gave him a starting place for the 2016 Olympic Games . There he beat Benny Muziyo from Zambia (2-1), but was eliminated in the round of 16 against Indian Vikas Krishan (0-3).
