Sergey Mixaylov

Sergey Mixaylov (also Sergei Mihailow and Sergey Mikhaylov ; born March 5, 1976 ) is a former Uzbek boxer . Mixaylov was Asian champion in 1997 and 1999, winner of the 1998 Asian Games and bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games .

Career

In 1997 Mixaylov took part in the Asian Championships for the first time and was able to win them in the light heavyweight division (-81 kg) and in the same year he was eliminated from the World Championships in the first fight against Stephen Kirk, Ireland (RSC 4th). At the Asian Games the following year he won the gold medal with a final victory over Lee Seung Bae, South Korea (9: 5).

At the 1999 World Championships Mixaylov reached the quarter-finals, which he lost to Alexey Trofimov, Ukraine (11: 6). In the same year he won the Asian Championships for the second time. Mixaylov celebrated his greatest success at the 2000 Olympic Games , where he reached the semifinals after victories over Claudiu Rasco, Romania (15: 6), Ali Ismailov, Azerbaijan (23:18), and Olzhas Orazaliev, Kazakhstan (RSC 4th) reached, which he lost to the later Olympic champion Alexander Lebsjak , Russia (RSC 1), and thus won the Olympic bronze medal.
