Alexander Borissowitsch Lebsjak ( Russian Александр Борисович Лебзяк ; born April 15, 1969 in Donetsk ) is a Russian boxing trainer and former boxer.

Life

Lebsjak was the son of the miner Boris Yakovlevich (* 1939) and Larissa Vasilyevna (* 1941) in Ukrainian born Donetsk. He has an older brother named Sergei Borissowitsch (* 1962), is married to Irina Vladimirovna (* 1970) and has two daughters: Tatiana (* 1987) and Anna (* 1993).

amateur

Lebsjak's first international success as an amateur boxer was winning the 1987 Junior World Championship in Havana in the light middleweight division. He suggested including the representatives of the GDR , Andreas Liebing , which in turn before Roy Jones Jr. defeated. Between 1987 and 1989 he did his military service in the Red Army .

Olympic games

Lebsjak took part in three Olympic Games in his long amateur career. European championships

Lebsjak also boxed at five European championships in his career and always achieved podium finishes. In 1991 in Gothenburg he finished third in his first European Championship participation, he was defeated in the semifinals against Ottke. In 1993 in Bursa he made it to the final, but lost the final fight against Dirk Eigenbrodt .

At the European Championships in Vejle in 1996 , he again failed in the semi-finals against the Hungarian Zsolt Erdei and had to be satisfied with another third place. Nevertheless, he made an appearance as a professional boxer. On September 21, 2001, he fought in Tashkent at an event in which Ruslan Chagayev and Ross Puritty boxed, among others , in the cruiserweight division against the American Stacy Goodson and won by technical knockout in the first round.

Trainer

From 2002 to 2004 Lebsjak was employed as a trainer in the Russian armed forces, he has been the trainer of the Russian national relay since 2005 and won nine out of eleven weight classes with his boxers at the 2006 European Championship in Plovdiv .
