Muhammadqodir Abdullayev (born November 15, 1973 in Andijon , Uzbek SSR , Soviet Union ), also known as Mahamadkadir Abdullajew and Mohammed Kadir Abdullajew , is a former Uzbek boxer.

The devout Muslim Abdullayev took part in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta as a lightweight , but lost his first fight against the American Terrance Cauthen . In 1997 he won the Asian Championships in Kuala Lumpur and in 1998 the Asian Games in Bangkok . During his participation in the 1997 World Championships in Budapest , he failed early on Maciej Zegan from Poland, and in 1999 he became amateur world champion in Houston with victories over Ricardo Williams , Lukáš Konečný and Willy Blain .
In 2000 he won the gold medal in the light welterweight division at the Olympic Games in Sydney , where he defeated, among others, Miguel Cotto and in the final again Ricardo Williams. His record: 288-12.
professional
In 2001 Abdullayev switched to the professional camp. Although he actually boxed a typical style of attack, he was largely unsuccessful as a professional. He lost his twelfth fight against Emanuel Clottey (19 wins, five losses) by knockout in the tenth round. He was then signed by Universum Box-Promotion and Fritz Sdunek became its trainer. After four more victories, he boxed on June 6, 2005 against his amateur opponent Miguel Cotto for the WBO title and lost after an eye injury. After another loss to the Ukrainian Andreas Kotelnik , he ended his career.
After a three and a half year hiatus, Abdullayev returned to the ring in 2009 but only fought in Uzbekistan. After five victories over compatriots, he lost to Ghanaian Joshua Okine in 2010 . After another win in 2011, Abdullayev ended his career.
