Sibusiso Bruno Matsenjwa (born May 2, 1988 in Lubombo ) is an Eswatin athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Sibusiso Matsenjwa gained his first international experience in 2009 at the World Championships in Berlin , where he was eliminated in the first round of the 200-meter run with 21.93 seconds. The following year he took part in the 60-meter run at the World Indoor Championships in Doha , but also retired there with 7.39 s in the lead. In the following year, he was eliminated in the preliminary round over 200 meters at the World Championships in Daegu with 21.29 s, before he reached the semi-finals in his first African games in Maputo in the 100-meter run and was eliminated there with 10.43 s . He also finished seventh over 200 meters in 21.08 seconds. In 2012 he was eliminated from the preliminary round at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul with 7.04 s over 60 meters, as well as at the African Championships in Porto-Novo over 100 meters with 10.91 s. Over 200 meters he reached the semifinals there, in which he was eliminated with 21.21 s. Thanks to a wildcard, he then took part in the Olympic Games in London , where he was eliminated with 20.93 in the run -up.

In 2013 he took part in the Summer Universiade in Kazan , where he was eliminated from the quarter-finals over 100 meters with 10.53 s and eighth over 200 meters in 20.99 s. The following year he was eliminated from the World Indoor Championships in Sopot over 60 meters with 6.88 s in the first round and also failed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow over 100 and 200 meters in the preliminary round with 10.56 s and 21.08 s. He then took part over 100 meters in the African Championships in Marrakech and was eliminated there with 10.80 seconds in the semifinals. In 2015 he took part again in the world championships in Beijing over 200 meters and was eliminated there with 20.78 s in the preliminary round . He then reached the semi-finals at the Africa Games in Brazzaville over 100 meters, in which he was eliminated with 10.46 s and over 200 meters he was sixth in 20.93 s. At the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Portland in 2016 , he was eliminated again in the first round, this time with 6.95 s. He then reached the semi-finals at the African Championships in Durban over 200 meters, but was disqualified there. Thanks to a new Wildcard he also participated in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in part, left there but with 20.63 s already in Vorlaufaus .

In 2017 he retired at the World Championships in London over 200 meters with 20.67 s in the preliminary round . The following year he retired from the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham with 6.82 s in the first round. Shortly afterwards he took part again in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and reached the finals over 100 and 200 meters, in which he was eliminated with 10.37 s and 21.16 s, respectively. He also reached the semi-finals over 200 meters at the African Championships in Asaba and was eliminated there with 21.07 seconds. In 2019 he took part in the Africa Games in Rabat for the third time and finished fifth there over 200 meters in 20.83 s, while he was eliminated in the semi-finals over 100 meters with 10.54 s. He then retired at the World Championships in Doha over 200 meters with 20.85 s in the lead .

In 2019, Matsenjwa became the Eswatin champion in the 100 and 200 meters. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Manila .
