TK Maxx is the European branch of the US department store chain TJ Maxx , which in turn belongs to the TJX Companies group. Branches are operated in Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria and the Netherlands.

Product range

The focus of these off-price stores ("sub -bidder stores ") is on clothing items, supplemented by shoes, toys, cosmetics, accessories, furniture and kitchen utensils.

history

1976 TJ Maxx in Framingham in the US state of Massachusetts founded. The first European branch opened in Bristol, England, in 1994 . The company changed the name to TK Maxx in Europe to avoid confusion with the established UK retail chain TJ Hughes .

In October 2007 the first branch in Germany was opened in Lübeck , and in 2009 in Poland. The first Austrian branch was opened in Graz in March 2015 . In March 2016, Europe's largest branch opened in downtown Munich . In 2016 there were over 400 branches in Europe, 93 of them at German locations. The American parent company TJX Companies has more than 3,300 branches in eight countries.
