After the sale of the Zayre brand, TJ Maxx remained as the core of the company's brands. In 1990 the company expanded abroad for the first time with the takeover of the Canadian chain Winners. Two years later, the new Home Goods brand was launched in the USA. In 1994, the brand entered the UK under the TK Maxx brand, and shortly thereafter also in Ireland. In 1995 the Marshalls brand was taken over and merged with TJ Maxx to form the Marmaxx subgroup. The following year, TJX Companies was included in the US index of the largest companies, Standard & Poor's 500. In 1998 the sixth brand, AJ Wright, was launched, followed by another, HomeSense, in Canada in 2001. In 2003 Bob's Stores was taken over and sold again in 2008. At the end of 2010, the company announced the end of the AJ Wright brand and some of the stores were re-flagged to other brands in the group.
