Haley Nemra

Haley Nicole Nemra (born October 4, 1989 in Seattle , Washington , USA ) is a track and field athlete who competes internationally for the Marshall Islands . Her preferred discipline is the 800-meter run .

Nemra's father is from the Marshall Islands, but she grew up in Marysville , Washington state. It was only in 2007 that she received citizenship of the Marshall Islands and was able to represent the Pacific island nation at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . Over 800 m she ran the 37th time in the lead with 2: 18.83.

In 2008, Haley Nemra began studying at the University of San Francisco and ran on the track and field team. There she injured her Achilles tendon and had to undergo an operation in 2010. As a result, she was unable to achieve a qualifying time, but was given a quota place for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . Haley Nemra was the flag bearer of the Marshall Islands at the opening ceremony . In the pre-run over 800 m she ran 2: 14.90 almost four seconds faster than four years earlier in Beijing.
