Norman Ackermann (born August 13, 1983 in Oldenburg in Oldenburg ) is a German sword fencer . He is a three-time German champion with the team.

Life

Norman Ackermann was born in Oldenburg and began his career in the fencing club in Oldenburg. At the age of 14 he moved to the Tauberbischofsheim fencing club and attended the sports boarding school there. After graduating from high school in 2004 at the commercial school in Tauberbischofsheim , he completed his law degree at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . He then completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main.

International individual successes

Norman Ackermann won the bronze medal at the Cadet World Championships in Keszthely in 1999 in the epee singles. A year later Ackermann won the gold medal at the Cadet World Championships 2000 in South Bend in the epee singles. In the same year he also won the overall world cup. At the 2003 Cadet European Championships, Ackermann won the bronze medal in Conegliano in the epee singles. In the same year he won a bronze medal in the epee singles at the Junior World Championships in Trapani . In 2008 he was fifth at the European Championships in Kiev.

International team successes

At Junior World Championships Ackermann reached with the epee team in 2001 a bronze medal in Gdansk , 2002, a silver medal in Antalya and in 2003 another bronze medal in Trapani . In 2003 he won silver with the Degen team at the World Championships in Havana . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , the Degen team won bronze with him as a substitute fencer.

At the German fencing championships he won a. a. 2007 , 2009 and 2012 gold with the team.
