As early as 1854 a trade school was founded in Tauberbischofsheim, to which a "trade department" was attached until 1921. On August 15, 1901, the then Tauberbischofsheim City Council passed a “local statute for the commercial advanced training school in Tauberbischofsheim”. From November 1916 to May 1918, the “commercial department” was completely closed because the school's only “commercial teacher” had been called up for military service in the First World War .

From the foundation to the beginning of the Second World War

On January 10, 1921, the Tauberbischofsheim Commercial School was founded by decree of the Ministry of Education , confirming the separation of the commercial school from the trade school into two independent schools. Typewriting lessons were introduced as early as autumn 1924 . English was first taught in May 1925 . From 1928 Tauberbischofsheim possessed with the introduction of " building Oberrealschule " next to the traditional high school two "higher" schools which awarded the diploma. On April 9, 1937, the “ Higher Commercial School ” opened with two school trains in the Kurmainzischen Schloss zu Tauberbischofsheim . With the beginning of the Second World War , school operations were stopped in 1939.

School operations resume after the war

With a special permit from the American military government , the Tauberbischofsheim Higher Commercial School was the first commercial school in all of North Baden that was allowed to teach again from autumn 1945. Josef Albicker was appointed temporary headmaster. In 1956, a new building for the "Commercial and Higher Commercial School with Community House" was built in Dr.-Philipp-Adam-Ulrich-Strasse and inaugurated in 1957.

The time after the move to the current school building

On September 7, 1967, the two-year business school was introduced as a full-time vocational school. The business school in Tauberbischofsheim was opened in 1968 as the first vocational high school in the Main-Tauber district . In 1971, the first class passed their Abitur examination. For the 75th anniversary of the Tauberbischofsheim Commercial School, an open day was held in 1997 and a school chronicle was published.

From the arrival of digital media to the media award

Financial T ('a) ime , from 2004 to 2017

The online school newspaper Financial T ('a) ime (FT), founded in 2004, became known beyond the school family and the city of Tauberbischofsheim and was awarded various prizes. It has been operated as an independent media portal as an FT Abi platform since 2017. The FT-Abi platform continues to operate a YouTube channel, two homepages and is still responsible for the content of the youth website (“BY young people FOR young people”) in the municipal newsletter Tauberbischofsheim AKTUELL , which is published twice a month in all households in the community Tauberbischofsheim is carried out.

In 2010 the concept of the “Operative Independent School (OES)” started. Also in 2014, extensive renovation work on the school building by the district began with the renovation of the auditorium, the staircase and all sanitary facilities. So that the inclusion of physically handicapped pupils can succeed, the school received a lift in addition to handicapped-accessible toilets to enable barrier-free access. The comprehensive renovation of the school building was completed in 2015. At the beginning of the 2015/16 school year, another type of school for young migrants without knowledge of German was set up at the KSTBB with a VABO class.

Foundation of a sponsorship association and the introduction of digitization

On December 15, 2016, the founding meeting of a friends' association of the Tauberbischofsheim e. V. takes place, which pursues the purpose of non-profit, ideal, financial and material support of education and upbringing at the school.

The school media concept, which was awarded a prize in 2014, was further developed in 2015 into the “#DigitaleSchule” project and presented as a digitization concept in spring 2017 at the didacta education fair in Stuttgart . Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on schools

From March 17, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany , the school, like all other schools in Germany, had to remain closed until April 19, 2020 (end of the Easter holidays ) in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic to slow down by reducing social contacts . School types and school qualifications

The Tauberbischofsheim Commercial School offers the following school qualifications and professional fields in the form of five different full and part-time schools:

Preparatory year for work and profession without knowledge of German ( VABO )

Duration: at least one year.

Graduation: A school leaving certificate is not sought. The school year ends with a German test, which only tests language level B1. Part-time schools

Commercial Vocational School (KBS)

As a part-time school, the commercial vocational school has the following characteristics:

The lessons take place in close cooperation with the training companies. It takes place one and a half days a week. Alternatively, other models and block lessons are offered.
The standard training period is three years. It ends with a qualification in a recognized training occupation. By shortening the apprenticeship period, the apprenticeship can be completed after two or two and a half years.

Media award

In 2014 the school received the second prize, endowed with 15,000 euros, for the best media concept in a vocational school. The prize was awarded by the Academy for Innovative Education and Management (aim), which is part of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation in Heilbronn . This recognized the successful introduction of modern media into the classroom. In 2009 she was one of the first schools to introduce “Activeboards”. Their online school newspaper "Financial T ('a) ime" made their experiences with it available to everyone. This made it the point of contact for other schools across Germany who were interested in this technology.

Tablet model school

The KSTBB is one of twelve vocational schools that were selected by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Education in 2014 to participate in the future school experiment on the use of tablets in class. The aim of this initiative is to bring modern working methods from the professional world into the classroom and reflect the realities of life in the students. In order to research the effect of tablets on the learning process, the school experiment is scientifically accompanied, especially in the subjects of mathematics, the profile subject of business and languages. Digitization concept

The school continued to develop its media concept, which received an award in 2014, from 2015 onwards into the “#DigitaleSchule” project. This divided the school into the following four areas: 1. Digital School - Our Strengths, 2. Digital Lessons - Our Everyday Life, 3. Digital Equipment - Our Tools, 4. Digital Training - Our Future. The school presented its digitization concept at the education congress of the municipal state associations on February 17, 2017 as part of the didacta education fair in Stuttgart . The motto of the education congress on that day was "Education on wire - digitization of schools". With its further developed digitization concept, the school was named a “Smart School” by bitcom in 2018 . In 2020, the school created a media development plan for the school authority , which is considered a prerequisite for obtaining funds from the School Digital Pact . In this regard, the Main-Tauber-Kreis school authority receives a budget of around 2.2 million euros for the vocational schools and the special needs education and counseling centers in the district from the digital pact for schools. The commercial school can access parts of this budget based on its media development plan until 2023.

Sustainability projects

The school pursues various projects that are geared towards environmental awareness and sustainability . For example, the lighting in the entire school building was converted to energy-saving light sources . In addition, the school's printers and copiers for teaching purposes are operated exclusively with recycled paper that has been certified with the Blue Angel , which means that the school helps to conserve resources. In addition to conserving wood reserves, the production of recycled paper also uses around two thirds less energy and water than conventional paper.

In another project, students planted a total of 1,000 trees in the city in 2012 to help reduce the carbon dioxide content in the earth's atmosphere .
