Heilbronn-Franconia region

The Heilbronn-Franconia region (until May 20, 2003: Franconia region , sometimes referred to as the "Heilbronn region") is one of twelve spatial planning and planning regions in Baden-Württemberg . The region includes the city of Heilbronn , the district of Heilbronn , the Hohenlohe district , the Main-Tauber district and the district of Schwäbisch Hall . In the Middle Ages, today's Heilbronn-Franconia region belonged to the Duchy of Franconia . Today South Franconian dialects are spoken there and East Franconian dialects in the eastern parts .

This region also includes the historical Hohenlohe area , which lives on in the geographical term Hohenlohe plain .

Regional planning

As the carrier of regional planning in the region Franken became the January 1, 1973 Regional Association francs as a public corporation established. It is one of twelve regional associations in Baden-Württemberg , two of which are also responsible beyond state borders. The office of the regional association is in Heilbronn. The association assembly of the regional association of Franconia was constituted for the first time on November 14, 1973. With the amendment of the state planning law, the regional association was renamed the Heilbronn-Franconia regional association with effect from May 20, 2003 .
