Rüdiger Peuckert (politician)

Rüdiger Peuckert (born May 25, 1940 in Troppau ; † March 22, 2014 ) was a German politician and from 1966 to 1979 mayor of Eppingen in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg .

Life

The only 25-year-old government inspector from Mannheim had to assert himself against two Eppinger candidates, the city ​​councilor and architect Heinz Faller and the city ​​administrator Herbert Dieffenbacher. With a turnout of over 90%, Rüdiger Peuckert received 1,863 votes on December 5, 1965 and was elected mayor of Eppingen with an absolute majority in the first ballot. On March 2, 1966, Germany's youngest mayor took office.

After his eight-year term in office, he was elected for a further 12 years on December 1, 1973, with no opposing candidates, with a turnout of 54%. On November 13, 1979, at a local council meeting, he announced that he would be resigning on December 31, 1979 due to excessive work - in addition to his mayor's office he had built three private old people's and nursing homes.

During his tenure, the city of Eppingen made the largest investments in its history with 125 million DM for high school, school center, indoor swimming pool, town hall, large sports hall, sewage treatment plant and much more. The incorporation of six independent municipalities in 1971/72 also fell into his term of office.

From 1971 to 1973, Rüdiger Peuckert was a member of the district council of the Sinsheim district and then of the Heilbronn district . Since 1978 he has been chairman of the Franconian regional association and since 1973 of the CDU parliamentary group in the district council. From 1975 to 1978 Peuckert was district chairman of the CDU in the Heilbronn district. From 1994 to 2005 he was a member of the Eppingen municipal council as chairman of the FBW parliamentary group.

Most recently, Rüdiger Peuckert operated four old people's and nursing homes in the Heilbronn and Karlsruhe districts as managing partner of the Seniorenstift Eppingen GmbH & Co. KG and as managing director of the Seniorenstift Eppingen Verwaltungs-GmbH . Rüdiger Peuckert died on March 22, 2014.
