Eppinger newspaper

The Eppinger Zeitung was an independent daily newspaper for Eppingen and the surrounding area in northern Baden-Württemberg from 1897 to 1971 .

The newspaper was founded by the master printer Heinrich Luz (1871-1926) and continued after his early death by his son Fritz Luz (born February 27, 1905 in Eppingen; † February 5, 1987 ibid).

In 1897 Heinrich Luz founded a commercial printing company at Brettener Straße 5 and moved to Gerbergasse 1 in 1901 after the newspaper was founded. The Eppinger Zeitung was printed there until 1921, now with a high-speed press that could print four newspaper pages simultaneously and was driven by a motor. The office stayed in this house and the printing works moved to the immediate vicinity on Kleinbrückentorstrasse in 1921.

The Eppinger Zeitung appeared from October 1, 1899 to December 31, 1971, with an interruption of publication from 1941 to 1949. In 1949 it was re-established as Neue Eppinger Zeitung and from January 1, 1954, renamed again to Eppinger Zeitung . Its subtitle was Süddeutsche Heimatzeitung for Eppingen and the surrounding area . The distribution area was the southern part of the district of Sinsheim . The Eppinger Zeitung was the official announcement sheet for the authorities and the district court in Eppingen.

The independent existence of the Eppinger Zeitung ended with the sale of the publishing rights on January 1, 1972 to Heilbronner Demokratie. A district edition of the Heilbronner Voice (subtitle: Sulzfelder Nachrichten ) appeared under the same name until February 17, 2001 , which was then incorporated into the Kraichgau Voice regional edition.
