The Northern Black Forest region is one of twelve spatial planning and planning regions in Baden-Württemberg . It includes the urban district of Pforzheim , the district of Calw , the district of Freudenstadt and the entire Enz district and is therefore not entirely congruent with the landscape of the northern Black Forest .
Regional planning
On January 1, 1973, the Northern Black Forest Regional Association was set up as a public corporation as the body responsible for regional planning in the region . It is one of twelve regional associations in Baden-Württemberg , two of which are also responsible beyond state borders. The office of the regional association is in Pforzheim .

Spatial planning
Pforzheim is designated as a regional center within the region . The following middle areas exist , the delimitation of which can be found in the articles on the respective cities:

Economic Development North Black Forest GmbH
This economic development is carried out by the Northern Black Forest region. It is a service provider for companies, municipalities and institutions in the region.
It has seven central areas of activity with their own objectives: networking and development of cooperations (cluster initiatives), regional location marketing, promotion of a regional competence center for digitization, promotion of regional innovation management, establishment of the region as a research and knowledge location, expertise in European activities and funding, support by municipalities in investor contacts and the marketing of commercial space and real estate.

The chairman of the supervisory board has been the district administrator of the district of Calw Helmut Riegger since 2010 . Dr. Klaus ‐ Michael Rückert District Administrator of the Freudenstadt District is the chairman of the shareholders' meeting.
