The Fränkische Nachrichten ( FN, subtitled daily newspaper for the Baden-Württemberg Franconia region ), based in Tauberbischofsheim , is an independent daily newspaper that gets its cover section from Mannheimer Morgen . The sold circulation is 28,226 copies, a decrease of 4.3 percent since 1998.

history

Foundation of the FN

The newspaper has been published since July 30, 1946, after prior approval from the American military government . In the beginning, the newspaper appeared three times a week with a length of up to four pages. Today the newspaper appears regularly on weekdays in the Main-Tauber district and in the northern part of the Neckar-Odenwald district . From March 1 to September 30, 1949, a side edition of the Franconian News for Heilbronn appeared for a few months under the title Heilbronner Abendpost . From 1960 to 1968, in cooperation with the Tauberbischofsheim city administration, the journal Bischemer Heimatbrief was published for foreign citizens and friends of the city at home and abroad. Since 2001, the FN have been available online via a content management system (Infopark) and also as an e-paper ( PDF edition) on the web.

Takeover of the Tauber newspaper

In autumn 2014 the Tauber newspaper was taken over by the Fränkische Nachrichten Verlags-GmbH. Neue Pressegesellschaft mbH & Co. KG (NPG), publisher of Südwest Presse, previously gave up the Tauber-Zeitung and sold the title rights including subscription data to the FN. Following the approval of the Cartel Office, Fränkische Nachrichten has continued the title since May 1, 2015. Of the last 21 employees at Tauber-Zeitung, only three could be taken on. While the local and regional content of the Tauber newspaper comes from the Fränkische Nachrichten, the Mannheimer Morgen delivers the supraregional cover section.

In 2016, the newspaper celebrated its 70th anniversary, including an open day in the Frankoniahaus, public exhibitions and a readers' festival.

Characteristics

The Fränkische Nachrichten is the publication sheet for the official announcements of the Main-Tauber district and the Neckar-Odenwald district as well as the large district towns of Bad Mergentheim and Wertheim , the towns of Buchen , Tauberbischofsheim, Walldürn and the municipality of Hardheim . They appear in the Fränkische Nachrichten Verlags-GmbH based in the Frankoniahaus in Tauberbischofsheim. Michael Grethe is the managing director. Editor-in-chief Dieter Schwab and general editor-in-chief Jürgen Strein are the editors.

The Fränkische Nachrichten is a member of the Association of Südwestdeutscher Zeitungsverleger e. V. (VSZV) , which in turn is part of the Bundesverband Deutscher Zeitungsverleger e. V. (BDZV) . The FN's weekly advertising paper , the Fränkische Wochenpost , is a member of the Federal Association of German Advertising Papers (BDVA) .

FN-Verlags-GmbH is 98 percent owned by the media group Dr. Haas , Mannheim, which publishes, among other things, the Mannheimer Morgen through a wholly owned subsidiary .

Edition

The Frankish news , like most German newspapers in recent years to rest lost. The takeover of the Tauber-Zeitung increased the sold circulation from the fourth quarter of 2014 to the fourth quarter of 2015 by 4,275 copies.
