The media group Dr. Haas GmbH is a media holding company based in Mannheim .

history

Today's holding was created from a cross-shareholding of the owners of the Mannheimer Morgen newspaper and the owners of the large printing plant in which the newspaper is produced. Until the early 1950s, the two licensees Karl Ackermann and Eitel-Friedrich von Schilling were the owners of the Mannheimer Morgen newspaper - but they did not own the large printing plant. This belonged to the "Dr. Haas KG ”united the Bode, Bauser and Kolb families.

The merger of the two groups formed the “Mannheimer Morgen Großdruckerei und Verlag GmbH”, which came under the umbrella of the “Verlag Dr. Haas ”holding company. In 1979 the holding company was renamed a GmbH, later expanded to include further investments and renamed to its current name.

Shareholder

The holding is a family company, the largest family shareholder is Stamm Bode, the largest individual shareholder is BWK Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft based in Stuttgart. This has a 28.89% share, the Bode family 22.1%, the family around Rainer v. Schilling 14.35% and Karl Ackermann's grandson, Felix von Reiswitz, 10.6%. The rest is free float.

The VOD - Vereinigte Offsetdruckereien , founded in Mannheim-Neckarau in 1958 , supported by the SPD publishing organization concentration GmbH , belonged to the media group Dr. Haas, it was merged with the media group in 1986 and closed. Today the training center of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG is located in the building at Heidelberg-Eppelheimer Handelsstrasse 13 .

The Südwestdeutsche Verlagsanstalt , founded in 1946 and housed in the Mannheimer Morgen building in square R1 , was also closed. The SPD was also involved in the SWV through Concentration GmbH.
